Today Midway Games announced that the highly anticipated Stranglehold has shipped to retailers nationwide for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 game system. Stranglehold is packed with explosive gameplay and is “the most high-profile crime game coming out this year,” according to the Associated Press. Duel-wielding gunfire, impressive stunts, a blood-laden path of environmental destruction, it’s all in a days work for Inspector Tequila.

Stranglehold claims intense cinematic gun battles, engaging your enemies in “Tequila Time,” where the world dramatically slows down around you. This feature allows you to perform reckless maneuvers such as swinging from chandeliers and jumping onto objects in motion; all too reminiscent of a night I spent with a bottle of Jose Cuervo.

What I’m looking forward to the most with the release of Stranglehold is becoming a one man wrecking crew. With one of the most destructible game environments ever created, you can carve your own path through scenarios as you see fit, giving the game an even more realistic feel.

Wait there’s more. Game experience may change during online play. You better believe it. Unload on noobs across the nation with intense Xbox Live action.

To bring Stranglehold from concept to market Midway collaborated with Tiger Hill Entertainment, action film mogul John Woo’s feature film and television company that lays claim to blockbusters such as Mission Impossible II and Broken Arrow. “Stranglehold marks a significant milestone in Midway’s commitment to developing and publishing high-quality, triple-A products,” said Steve Allison, chief marketing officer, Midway. “The game not only delivers the intense, cinematic gunplay that acclaimed action director John Woo is known for, but completely redefines what action gaming is all about.”

U.S. suggested retail price is $59.99 for the Xbox 360 version of Stranglehold with the collectors edition at $69.99. The PC release of Stranglehold is expected to be available on September 18 and for the PlayStation 3 (PS3) on September 25.
